Piggy and Ralph following Simon's death
After Simon died, Piggy and Ralph were blaming it on themselves. Ralph kept on thinking that it was his fault that Simon died, while Piggy was trying to comfort Ralph by telling him that it wasn't they up in the moment and it was dark. Piggy also told him that he wasn't part of circle that was participating in the killing. "You were outside. Outside the circle. You never really came in. Didn't you see what we- what they did?"(Golding, 173). Piggy would always say that it was an accident no one wanted it to happenIf I were in this situation I would be very terrified that participated in a murder of a group member. I would probably not act with as much guilt as Ralph did and I would get over the death of someone faster than him too. If I were in the situation of Piggy where I had to comfort someone like Ralph, I would do my best in helping him get over the death of someone like Simon.
Jack's Gang
When Jack's gang realized that he needed Piggy's specs, they raided the beach and took his glasses and ran back to their side of the island. They were very aggressive and didn't want any negotiations with Ralph or Piggy knowing that they would probably not give it to his gang.
If I were Jack I would probably do the samething in his position after going through all this. I wouldn't want to discuss about issues with Ralph knowing that we have different views on how to run a group of boys stranded on the island

The 60's version of the movie was ineffective to the average moviegoer. The taste of the direction and style the movie was lain out seems so dim. The major difference between the novel and the movie is that in the novel is was well played out and the author thought well enough to let the reader's mind create an amazing picture of the characters while the movie is based on the screenwriter. This is also affected by what technology is available since most of the special effects - as special as they might be - aren't alluring. When Simon and Piggy die in the story you imagine all the gray matter being exposed but in the movie it leaves you hanging for more but it doesn't deliver. In the novel, Piggy dies from a boulder being rolled down and basically crushing is midsection and creating pressure to build up cracking his head with everyone seeing how exactly his mind is made up of. In the movie all you see is the face of the child actor who plays Piggy and his hands raised up the boom he is gone well you just assume he is gone. There isn't any more video made to show the viewers who paid the see the movie. Simon's death was pretty much a blur and the age of the movie played a roll since the video cameras couldn't handle well the light and darkness. In the movie, Simon's death was fast, painless, and generic.
His hands and face were the main event where you couldn't see his assailants actually hurt him in anyway other than their sticks moving up and down. The sound of a pointy stick puncturing Simon's flesh also sounds like someone just move some leaves and crushing them. In the book, Simon attempts to warn the other kids about some old man then dies when the hunters thought he was the beast. The lord of the flies is also not represented in the movie at all with its somewhat psychotic episodes erupting near Simon and creating the suspense in the book allowing fear and explanation to seep through and clue in to many ideas to come forth.
Overall the movie doesn't bode well with the book since the movie is very much just like any other movie on book. Lines just read off and no real acting in it. It sounds as if the crew who made the movie just wanted a quick buck and do not wish to be remembered for their talents. This movie was a waste of time.

The Daily Mercury
On an island in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately eight pm, Simon's body was found on the nearby beach side. He was floating in the shallow water from being murdered from a group of survivors on the mysterious island. He was seen as the person who at the time as slightly insane and wasn't in any tribe that the survivors created. Most people are concerned on how the group of people, who committed the crime, why did they murder him? What is it for fear or stupidity and ego? The question that usually rings people's ears are the witnesses who had to see Simon's body drift away in sea towards a better place.

Today at 7pm, on a mysterious island with growing green trees and clouds of leaves. Simon was found dead drifting the glowing open sea going to the golden gates to see St. Peter. He was murdered by a young tribe lead by Jack Merridew who is infamous as the leader of the hunters.Jack and his hunters were prancing around in tight circle singing in fear and pride. Simon was going towards them and was explaining to them who the beast was. It seems that the "Beast" is the Lord of the Flies. Even then now we have no clue that the Lord of the Flies is. Some Psychologists say it is completely made up or truly is a new beast."
It is impossible to have a such a beast. Lord of the Flies being described from other members of the group is horrendous and frightening." said Wrighty Mick Tighty, Psychologist from Harvard. " Their atrocious depictions are completely ludicrous to reality."
"It is possible that the people on the island were starving and dehydrated creating mirages and leaving reality behind them giving ideas from simple subjects which makes beast." said Lefty McGee of Stanford University. This meant that Simon senseless death might of been an accident or a amazing plan to eliminate him from the island which the hungry survivors wish to live off.

Does chanting and dancing really fulfill a social function? I think so. There are many dances and rituals that one can take place in. Dances can vary from simple high school dances, to religious or marital dances. Many people dance and chant because they find it a confidence booster but for others it is a way of life. For example, Sufi dance rituals are very popular in Turkey and it is used as a way for Muslims to connect with God. Although on the island, the boys dance for a much different reason it does end up getting out of control because they seem to get too much caught up in the heat of the moment. I believe that at the time they might not have been thinking about just exactly what it was they were doing. Therefore they could not have stopped themselves.
Ritual activities I take part in:
Take a shower when I wake up
Get dressed
Eat a snack when I get home on weekdays
Set table before dinner
Grace (before eating dinner)
I believe that the most important ritual activity that I take part in on a daily basis would be saying grace before eating my dinner. I find this very important because it gives me the opportunity to slow down and just be thankful for everything that I have in my life. Also at the same time it allows me to spend time with my family and share food. This is very important to me.

In the 1960's version of Lord of the Flies the director is very loyal to the book. Every little detail was squeezed in the portion of movie we were able to view. The first six chapters of the book was shown to us on the movie but seemed to quick and cheesy. All the children also seemed younger than expected and changed the mood of the story. The children in the book seemed slightly older ( dealing with height and size). The movie makes the children also take adult responsibilities when the actors themselves don't seem to have the capacity and the willingness to actually complete the tasks at hand. So the book compared to the movie have little to do with. This gives that effect of children who at first have no clue but matured in seconds this is due mostly to the speed of the movie, screenwriter, and director.
